Vilabella: The happy flats

Be sure not to miss: the Mossen Romà Comamala Foundation Pinacoteca and Museum and the Camp Museum, located in the old Convent of the Dominican Sisters; the votive chapels; Cal Cristí, the house known as "el Castell"; the vicarage, close to l'Església Nova de Sant Pere, and a walk along the Gaià river.

The Mossen Romà Comamala Foundation Pinacoteca and Museum, located in the old Dominican Sisters Convent (19th century), houses a collection of religious paintings from the 16th century to the present day, compiled by Romà Comamala, the pastor of Vilabella
(1964-2000). This museum is unique in the region. The grotto of the Virgin Mary of Lourdes is still preserved from the old convent where the art gallery is located. In the same building is the Camp Museum, which houses an ethnological exhibition of tools, fixtures and furniture related to the field.

The streets of Vilabella have a unique jewel: the votive chapels dedicated to Sant Antoni, Sant Joan, Sant Roc, Sant Magí and Mare de Déu del Roser, etc. Stroll through the municipality and enter l'Església Nova de Sant Pere. Right next to it, you will find the old vicarage, a large irregular building. If you make a reservation at the Town Hall, you can have a guided tour to discover the museums and votive chapels.

Can Cristí (XVI-XVII centuries) is a private manor house known as “el Castell” (BCIN). Inside, a notable feature is the patio with an angled staircase leading to the upper floor, which opens onto a large room.

We recommend you take a circular tour of 5 km along the Gaià river. It begins on the Salomó path and continues along the Set Ponts (the footbridges over the river), the Molí del Mig, the Gatell caves and the Molinet road. On the outskirts of the town there is a little known picnic area, called the Terra Blanc. You can also do the guided tour if you book it at the Town Hall.
