NARCÍS OLLER LITERARY ROUTE

We know Narcís Oller with the nickname "father of the modern Catalan novel". This is so because it was he who laid the foundations of a literary genre in Catalan that gained momentum and European prestige at the end of the 19th century, in the same way that Jacint Verdaguer renewed poetry and Àngel Guimerà the theatre. Despite moving to Barcelona at a very young age, where he died in 1930, Oller never left his contacts with Valls, to the extent that he devoted many pages of his work to them. As a realistic writer, Valls served as a starting point and stimulus to create "Vilaniu" and to contextualize events from other novels.
