The old hospital of Sant Roc, currently called Espai Gerhard, dates from the 16th century. Currently restored, it houses a contemporary art room installed in the chapel of the same hospital.

The objectives of the Space are to bring the most current art to Valls and the regions of Tarragona, to give a foothold to a whole set of artists and proposals that cannot find a place to exhibit and to create a fund of contemporary art.
